Adding a discount promotion

A Discount promotion takes a percentage or a fixed dollar amount off each qualifying item on a sale. It is the simplest promotion and suits most offers: a seasonal special, a weekday discount or a deal for a group of clients.

In this example we create a Spring Special that gives 10% off hair cuts, capped at $20 per service, and applies automatically whenever one of those services is sold.

  1. Click Settings in the left menu.
  2. Under Promotions, click Discount (% or $ off).

  1. Click Add New.

  1. Under Promotion Details, enter the Promotion Name and a Description staff will see when they apply it. Set Status to Active when you are ready for it to run, or leave it as Draft while you finish setting it up.
  2. Under Discount, choose the Discount Type:
  • Percentage Off - enter the percentage in Discount Value, for example 10. Enter a Maximum Discount Amount to cap the dollar value taken off each item. This is required for a percentage discount.
  • Fixed Amount Off - enter the dollar amount in Discount Value, for example 5.

  1. Under Who Qualifies, set any conditions the client or sale must meet. Tick New Clients Only, enter a Minimum Spend Amount or Minimum Quantity, or tick client Labels. Leave these blank to offer the promotion to everyone.
  2. Under Applies To, click the Services and Products the discount applies to. Each item you click moves to the right hand list. Leave All Staff ticked, or untick it and choose the staff the client must book with.

  1. Under Locations, leave Location Scope as All Locations or limit the promotion to a franchise or specific locations.
  2. Under Available Days & Times, set the Start Date and, if the promotion has an end, the End Date. Untick All Days to choose particular days of the week, and set a Time Window if it only runs during part of the day.
  3. Under Redemption, leave Redemption Mode as Automatic so the discount applies as soon as a qualifying item is added to a sale. Choose Manual if staff should apply it by hand, or Code Required and enter the codes clients must present.
  4. Under Limits, optionally set a Total Redemption Limit, a Per-Client Redemption Limit, or tick Once Per Sale.

  1. Click Save.

The promotion now appears in the Discount list and in All Promotions. If its status is Active and today is within its dates, it will start applying to sales straight away. See Applying Promotions to a Sale for what staff see at the till.
